Gorillas on the Line
April 1 - September 1

We’re joining our community partner Zoo New England for the global “Gorillas on the Line” mobile phone recycling challenge!
Did you know… Cell phones contain coltan, a material mined from the western lowland gorilla’s natural habitat. Because of the major cell phone demand, the Congo’s coltan mining business has increased rapidly in recent years. This has led to dramatic destruction of the natural habitat of great apes, bringing this species closer to extinction. When recycled, old electronics can have a major impact on the lives of gorillas.
From April through September 1, the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s (ARL) Animal Care & Adoption Centers in Boston, Dedham, and Brewster (Cape Cod) will help collect cell phones, iPods, iPads, tablets, adapters, chargers, earbuds, and MP3 players. Please note we can NOT accept laptops.
Visit an ARL Animal Care & Adoption Center, Wednesday-Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm to donate your used electronic items. All donations must be handed directly to an ARL staff member, please do not leave donations outside.
