We’re joining our community partner Zoo New England for the global “Gorillas on the Line” mobile phone recycling challenge! Did you know… Cell phones contain coltan, a material mined from the western lowland gorilla's natural habitat. Because of the major cell phone demand, the Congo’s coltan mining business has increased rapidly in recent years. This has led to dramatic destruction of the natural habitat of great apes, bringing this species closer to extinction. When recycled, old electronics can have a major impact on the lives of gorillas. ARL is happy to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of the Buffalo Exchange Tokens for Bags® program from July through December 2025. You can now support ARL just by shopping at Buffalo Exchange in Somerville and in Brookline. Instead of a plastic bag, the Tokens for Bags® program offers every customer who makes a purchase one “token” valued at five cents (the cost to produce a bag) to donate to one of several local charities selected by the store. Protect Animals from Rodenticide Lobby Day

Take action! Join us for the Protect Animals from Rodenticide Lobby Day on July 24 It’s time to speak in one strong voice to our legislators – telling them to stop the use of anticoagulant rodenticides in MA!  Join small groups advocating with your elected officials to support An Act Restricting the Use of Rodenticides in the Environment (H965/S644). It will be a fun day starting with a Kick-Off Forum meeting the Red-tailed Hawk “Falco” from the New England Wildlife Center. Then, there will be a Meet & Greet Exhibition with legislators visiting tables hosted by community groups from across the state.
